Some folks are great teachers in a practical way. Among them we can count Howard and Jo Ann Utech. When I was a student at Ozark Christian College, I fellowshipped at Park Plaza Christian Church. There I met these strong Christians from whom I learned things that helped me in the practice of my Christian life.
The Utechs were known for their desire to help and teach others, especially international students trying to adjust to a new country. They took Betty and me under their protective wings and we always felt good to be with them, whether at church or in their home.
As I graduated from the college and was getting ready to move to Haiti, Park Plaza Christian Church ordained me for ministry. It was an important occasion. Howard and JoAnn played a big role in preparing and executing my ordination. They sent us to Haiti with sincere blessings of success. With this support, God used us to build HCM into a successful Kingdom ministry.
The Utechs continued to financially support HCM for all these 46 years. Howard passed away a couple years ago, but his constant smile and his pure jokes remain vivid to me. JoAnn continues to send financial support, showing love in a meaningful way to the Haitian people God has sent us to serve. They are a powerful example how God can use faithful giving to multiply Kingdom work. Whatever we bring to God, he will use to bring the Good News!
