FONDS-VERRETTE
ABOUT THE COMMUNITY
Fonds-Verrette is in the West Department of Haiti, in the District of Croix de Bouquets. With about 45,000 people living in this mountainous area, it becomes a location that is hard to reach. This community is in a vulnerable area with no hospital, and the road to get there is very rocky and bumpy.
Those who live in this community have to rely on farming as their primary activity and form of work. Most of the time the people farm in vain because of the lack of rain, resulting in walking long distances to collect water.
There is both an HCM school and church that serves as a pillar for education and hope in this community. Sylvio Joseph pastors about 200 people in the church. Fonds-Verette Christian Church has been a pillar of their community since 1980.
A future goal for this community is to move the school to the same location as the church and fence the whole area. The school needs 3 more classrooms, a playground, benches, and up-to-date teaching materials. You can read below more about the Christian School of Fonds-Verrette and how you can support this school.
